About the Internship Program:

 

Over the course of 10 weeks, a select group of college and university students will join us, gaining valuable work experiences and insights into our most exciting products. Interns engage with Hasbro’s beloved brands, gaining meaningful work-experience through day-to-day training, hands-on projects, executive exposure, individual development planning, and mentorship.

 

  • Our program runs between June 10 - August 16, 2024.

The Hasbro Preschool and Dolls team is currently recruiting a playful and creative design student to assist the Design team in the development of our products over the course of a summer internship.

 

As an intern, it will be your responsibility to assist in all stages of the design process.  From brainstorming ideas, sketching, testing early models and assisting product designers in evaluating concepts, you will be exposed to and assist in a variety of tasks expected from a Hasbro Toy Designer. You will be asked to contribute to a few key Preschool/Girls brands and will be given opportunities to explore insight-led development through work with our internal consumer testing groups.

 

This position supports new in-development girls’ properties as well as Peppa Pig, our largest preschool brand; so the more excited you are about cute things, the more excited we are to hear from you.

A Day in the life of a Toy Designer on Preschool and Doll brands:

 

  • Research Current trends in fashion, play and toy categories, creating mood boards and insight documentation to inspire and validate product direction.

  • Brainstorm new product ideas and designs within our development group

  • Visualize new concepts via sketching and digital illustration – experience with CAD, sculpting, 3D rendering, or video editing is a plus too.

  • Work Cross-Functionally with Entertainment, Engineering, Marketing, and Package/Brand Design to validate and refine concepts based on manufacturing realities and market trends.

  • Assist in creating testing stimulus and participate in both qualitative and quantitative testing to validate consumer insights and product direction.

  • Prepare for and help deliver internal presentations for new product concepts.

  • Create product specification packages (using Adobe illustrator and Photoshop) to define product specifics for development. 

  • Work with overseas partners and mass manufacturing vendors to complete product development. Evaluating models and production samples to ensure quality and experience are consistent with internal vision and true to brand standards.

 

What you'll bring:

 

  • Must be a current undergraduate student. Students graduating in 2024 are NOT eligible for 2024 Summer Internship opportunities 

  • Must be available to work full-time as a Intern for three months between May-September 2024 major interruptions from the entire duration of Internship.

  • Must have strong remote working and digital communication abilities. This design team is split between Rhode Island and California, but the supervising designer for this position is in Burbank, CA.

  • Ideally, applicants should also be available to work with their supervisor in the Burbank, CA office one day per week. For strong applicants, fully remote work outside of the Los Angeles/Burbank area can be considered.

  • Co-op assignment can be either a required or optional requirement for graduation.

  • Completion of at least one year of study within an undergraduate design program (Product, Toy, or Fashion Design) or Illustration program. 

  • Strong skills in sketching and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator

  • Some skill OR interest in learning CAD creation/editing, model building, physical fabrication and video editing skills are all a plus, but not required.

  • Excellent communication & interpersonal efficiency skills

  • Passion for collaboration, play and consumer product development

  • A GREAT love of toys and FUN!
