This position is responsible for supporting Global Ocean Transport and Trade Control with the local requirements, finding solid freight forwarders that can offer competitive rates, right free-time according to local custom clearance process and routes with low transshipments avoiding delays in returning containers, compliance with laws and local regulatory to avoid customs sanctions and fines that are costly and can lead to the temporary closure of a company. Ensure the flow of the international supply chain of finished products from Ásia, Mexico and USA to Colombia and Peru, ensuring planning with shipping companies, freight forwarders, customs agents and local transport, complying with the times established in each market and compliance with the regulations to which it applies. 

 

The role of this position is relevant to be part and accomplish with the fill rate of all customers, and responsible for having on time the containers planned based on the forecast process and inventory availability at the origin (containers planned to 2025, Colombia + Peru). 

 

A Day in the Life of an Imports Analyst:

Shipment Coordination (73%)

  • Overseeing import operations from Asia, the US, and Mexico.
  • Daily communication with booking agents and global transportation.
  • Planning shipments and confirming container loads.
  • Tracking shipments and managing import documentation through systems like SAP and SONDA.
  • Coordinating customs clearance, managing in-transit issues, land transport, and regulatory compliance in both Colombia and Peru.
  • Ensuring on-time delivery to warehouses and maintaining import records and validations.

Reporting & Financial Oversight (15%)

  • Generate monthly transit and freight cost reports.
  • Manage tax payments to DIAN and SUNAT.
  • Reviewing and processing supplier invoices and coordinating with finance. 

Document and Process Updates (12%)

  • Annual updates to customs documents and mandates.
  • Maintaining communication with internal clients and customs agents.
  • Forecast and ETA planning.

 

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Foreign Trade
  • 5 years of experience in import and export logistics processes
  • International agreements course
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment
  • Knowledge of SAP for import work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
