In this position you will be responsible for the engineering development of products for assigned product lines ensuring performance, cost, quality, and schedule adherence. Utilizing communication, problem solving, mechanical engineering, 3D CAD, as well as prototype modeling skills, you will function as the engineering lead from initial concept through production start. This includes collaborating with diverse multi-functional teams located at our Burbank offices, and direct communication with product development partners in Hasbro&rsquo;s Rhode Island and Hong Kong offices, and other locations around the world. Additionally, you will actively participate and contribute to the product development process by identifying and implementing innovative methods and solutions that will deliver on product objectives by providing the most cost effective engineering direction. As part of the cross functional development team, you will be actively involved in defining the initial product, exploring new materials and new processes, developing and defining product and functional specifications. You will participate in and help drive the decision-making process throughout the product development cycle.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Roles &amp; Responsibilities:<br /> &bull;Collaborate with design and marketing on generating new concepts and provide technical advice and assessment.<br /> &bull;Create product and functional requirement specifications.<br /> &bull;Design and build proof of concept models as needed to prove out feasibility.<br /> &bull;Collaborate with Cost Engineering to estimate product costs, recommend cost reduction options, and drive team to cost to feature alignment decisions.<br /> &bull;Provide early engineering design input to optimize tooling and product cost.<br /> &bull;Be aware of industry trends. Identify emerging technologies and processes and find ways of employing these whenever they can provide Hasbro with a unique competitive advantage.<br /> &bull;Anticipate, analyze, resolve and escalate project issues throughout all stages of product lifecycle.<br /> &bull;Review and approve instructions and packaging.&nbsp;<br /> &bull;Lead product review meetings.&nbsp;<br /> &bull;Communicate project details with Hasbro Far East/Domestic engineering as well as other global development, marketing and operational partners.<br /> &bull;Monitor continuous improvement initiatives to improve process efficiency and productivity.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Qualifications:<br /> &bull;B.S. Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)&nbsp;<br /> &bull;3-5 years experience working in the toy and/or consumer goods industry preferred<br /> &bull;Knowledge of engineering-related disciplines<br /> &bull;Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and cost analysis<br /> &bull;Prior experience with Global vendors preferred<br /> &bull;Ability to interpret quality, safety and reliability standards and meet requirements<br /> &bull;Ability to assess, communicate and mitigate technical risks<br /> &bull;Ability to successfully communicate and/or translate technical information<br /> &bull;Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects and shifting priorities&nbsp;<br /> &bull;Self-motivation, excellent communication and follow through skills required<br /> &nbsp;</p>
