Are you a motivated, strategic, collaborative and relationship-oriented leader who loves expanding brand and product experiences? We’re looking for a hardworking marketing or licensing professional to impact our co-brand partnership efforts for Magic: The Gathering’s Universes Beyond sub-brand and Secret Lair, the direct-to-consumer native product line. This dynamo would also build out the consumer products program for Magic: The Gathering, in collaboration with a variety of cross-functional teams.

 

If you have demonstrated expertise in business affairs, licensing, marketing, brand partnerships, promotions, or experience at a creative agency our Manager, Emerging Business role might be for you! A passion for partnerships and partner management, and an affinity for card games or other lifestyle brands is critical. Knowledge of trading card games as well as experience working on hard lines, soft lines, and publishing products will be key.

What you'll do:

  • Support Senior Business Development Manager in leading deal discussions for brand partners, working closely within the tabletop studio, digital teams, Legal, Marketing, Finance, Consumer Insights, and Franchise.
  • Craft presentation materials for specific partner pitch meetings and evaluate partner pitches.
  • Execute all partner NDAs.
  • Draft deal memos and review and document financials and P&L statements.
  • Manage the legal process to shorten the time to execution.
  • Track status of licensed projects and update internal Studio X /Wizards' team newsletters.
  • Secret Lair deal (shadowing), collaboration, and calendar planning with Secret Lair team, eventually managing the front to back licensing acquisition process for Secret Lair.
  • Source new IP for white space emerging business opportunities in the TCG category.
  • Organize the Emerging Business shared sites to facilitate ease of collaboration.
  • Attend and report on Partner summits.
  • Assist in managing the licensor experience and facilitating communications as needed.

What you'll bring:

  • A self-starter who takes initiative, solves problems and brings ideas to the table.
  • 5+ years demonstrated ability working in business affairs, licensing, marketing, brand partnerships, promotions, or at a creative agency.
  • Passion for entertainment or gaming AND business strategy.
  • Ability to provide clear and concise direction/feedback to partners and the skill to influence others to adopt their recommendations.
  • Well-developed verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and juggle multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, corporate entertainment environment.
  • Ability to think critically to find or solve for questions and needs presented by new programs, projects, or efforts. We need a partner who is fully informed by our past but is devoted to the stewardship of our future!
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, meet deadlines, and be resourceful/flexible.
  • Possess passion and a desire to take on increased responsibilities.
  • Quick to learn and has a thorough understanding of the product development process.
  • Loves building relationships and nurturing new ones.
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience preferred.

 

Compensation Range: $92,240 - $159,120
