Manager of Software Engineering, D&D- Infrastructure Platform

As Manager Software Engineer, Dungeons & Dragons® (D&D) Infrastructure you will lead a team of engineers to maintain and enhance the DevOps, security, and infrastructure platform for Wizards of the Coast’s (WotC) D&D digital site, D&D Beyond.

This role will be fully remote and located in Canada.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the team of engineers designing, building, and maintaining the cloud-based infrastructure that supports D&D Beyond, including server, container, network, database, observability, security, and storage management systems.
• Provide technical guidance. mentorship, and manage performance of a team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
• Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to define requirements, develop roadmaps, and continuously improve the developer experience of the D&D Beyond cloud-based infrastructure platform and services.
• Advise on architecting and implementing scalable and efficient solutions, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in DevOps, security, and cloud-based infrastructure development and provide recommendations on standard processes and tools.

What You'll Bring:

• 4+ years demonstrated ability managing teams of 5 or more engineers.
• 2+ years prior experience as a DevOps, TechOps or System Reliability engineer supporting development in the cloud (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Experience designing, building, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure that supports software applications, including server, container, network, database, observability, security, and storage management systems.
• Experience with containerized workload management technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, AWS ECS, EKS).
• Consistent track record building and managing infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with some form of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).
• Solid understanding of web app performance optimization, security, and usability principles.
• Experience driving operational excellence processes and using observability tools for monitoring, logging, and tracing.
• Experience working in agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical partners.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.

Nice to Have:

• Experience using Kubernetes and Terraform.
• Experience working with both relational (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres) and non-relational databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Intermediate or greater knowledge of Python.
• Knowledge of Git.
• Understanding of monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Sumologic)
• Experience with Linux.
• A passion for Dungeons & Dragons (D&D).
