We're looking for an early career games user researcher that wants to grow their skills alongside a team of thoughtful and motivated insights practitioners. We’re seeking a curious and passionate Associate UX Researcher to support the Digital Publishing User Experience Research (UXR) team at Wizards. Our team partners with internal and external game studios to deliver worldclass player experiences through high-quality, data informed insights. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with our senior researchers and support research across multiple digital game projects. You’ll help ensure our teams deeply understand player needs by assisting with study planning, moderating research sessions, and analyzing player feedback and gameplay behaviors.

What You'll Do:

  • Support Montreal-based and remote researchers in running end-to-end user research across the portfolio.
  • Assist with planning and executing studies, including playtests, usability evaluations, interviews, surveys, and competitor analysis.
  • Communicate instructions, guidance, and assistance to research participants.
  • Moderate and proctor in person and remote research sessions.
  • Observe and record player behaviors, gameplay interactions, and usability issues.
  • Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to uncover player motivations, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Contribute to clear, actionable research reports and presentations.
  • Coordinate logistics for sessions in the Montreal research lab and support occasional off‑site or remote testing.
  • Stay current on UX research methods and trends in game development.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Psychology, HCI, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, or a related field focused on qualitative research—or equivalent practical experience.
  • Early career experience with UX research through internships, academic projects, or related work.
  • Familiarity with core UX research methods and how to apply them appropriately.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable managing multiple tasks and prioritizing work streams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools.
  • Proficiency with PC hardware and current generation game consoles.
  • Passion for video games and games user research.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and eager to learn.

Bonus modifier:

  • Familiarity with survey platforms (e.g., Alchemer, Qualtrics).
  • Interest in accessible and inclusive game design.
  • Exposure to game development pipelines.
