In this position you will be responsible for the mechanical engineering of prototypes and proof of concept development for the Play-Doh & Preschool brands. A solid mechanical engineering foundation, communication skills, and problem solving skills are required to succeed in this role. You will function as the mechanical lead from initial concept through proof of concept model where performance specifications are met. You will partner with Project Engineers, Designers and other business partners to determine scope of work and performance needs. As part of cross-functional team, you will be able to offer insight and technical expertise to offer cost effective solutions as well as contribute to the ideation and development of new concepts.<br/><br/>Roles & Responsibilities:<br/><br/>&bull; Accountable for mechanical invention, ideation and mechanism development until demonstration of required performance.<br/>&bull; Collaborate with Design and Product Engineers on initial concepts contributing new ideas and new mechs.<br/>&bull; Lead cross functional brainstorms focused on mechanisms, product extensions, and brand extensions.<br/>&bull; Be proactive with identifying development needs.<br/>&bull; Provide cost effective solutions, BOM’s and other materials for team to evaluate cost of solutions.<br/>&bull; Effectively communicate with Hasbro Far East/domestic engineering as well as other global development partners.<br/>&bull; Collaborate with Design on concepts.<br/>&bull; Create performance specifications.<br/>&bull; Evaluate prototypes against performance specifications.<br/>&bull; Anticipate, analyze, resolve and escalate project issues.<br/>&bull; Test, verify and demonstrate that model performance goals have been met.<br/><br/><b>Qualifications:</b><br/><br/>&bull; B.S. Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), Masters Degree a plus.<br/>&bull; 4-6 years experience working in the toy and/or consumer goods industry preferred.<br/>&bull; Knowledge of engineering-related disciplines.<br/>&bull; Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and cost analysis.<br/>&bull; Knowledge of CAD (Solidworks preferred) to develop, review, and analysis product designs, and develop functional prototypes when necessary.<br/>&bull; Basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles and methods<br/>&bull; Prior experience with Far East vendors a plus.<br/>&bull; Ability to innovate and invent.<br/>&bull; Ability to interpret quality, safety and reliability standards and meet requirements.<br/>&bull; Ability to assess, communicate and mitigate technical risks.<br/>&bull; Ability to successfully communicate and/or translate technical information.<br/>&bull; Ability to collaborate with and effectively influence cross-functional teams in the US and globally<br/>&bull; Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects and shifting priorities.<br/>&bull; Self-motivation, excellent communication and follow-up skills a must.<br/><br/>ABOUT HASBRO<br/><br/>Hasbro (NASDAQ: HAS) is a global play and entertainment company committed to Creating the World's Best Play Experiences.
