Are you interested in sharing your expertise and leadership for inbound brand licensing and licensor relationship management and deep understanding of licensing business models?  We have an immediate need on Hasbro's CP Licensing Team!

 

A day in the life of a Director, Global Business Development, CP Licensing:

  • Provide critical and highly visible leadership for inbound brand licensing and licensor relationship management on behalf of Hasbro toy and game business units including Board games, Action, Outdoor, Fashion, Preschool and Creativity. 
  • Take full responsibility for proactively leading deal management and negotiations simultaneously for dozens of existing and new licensor agreements.
  • Vet and evaluate new potential licensors, partners, and intellectual properties; working diligently to gauge IP interest across the Hasbro toy and game business units with Global Play Leads and their teams.
  • Lead new concept pitches to licensors together with Hasbro toy and game business units inclusive of Hasbro overview, partner research, product and packaging concepts and business forecasts.
  • Oversee process of establishing pre-negotiation approvals with Finance, the Hasbro toy and game business units, and other key Hasbro senior leaders, all the way up to CEO.
  • Establish complete and thoughtful proposed business terms in conjunction with stakeholders and then lead negotiations on behalf of Hasbro.
  • Work very closely with the toy and game business units, Legal, Finance and other stakeholders to proactively lead and drive multiple agreements and amendments from beginning to end; continuously resolving problems, finding answers and accepting no obstacles.
  • Also take a leadership role in key licensor relationship management which will have you typically maintaining between 25+ relationships at any given time.
  • Consistently share new licensor brand and entertainment information to the Hasbro toy and game teams for their consideration. Travel to attend key brand reviews 2-3 times per year and share information back to the teams.
  • As necessary, act as first point in communication from licensor to the Hasbro toy and game business units with relation to marketing, product development issues, business reviews, royalty reports, quarterly forecasting and any other issues / emergencies that might arise.
  • Continuously be a source of knowledge and education in supporting the Hasbro toy and game business segments as they look to grow their business with new intellectual property.
  • As needed, support other business units: Wizards of the Coast, Inventor Relations.

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of brand licensing, and ideally, toy and game category experience. This includes a deep understanding of licensing business models.
  • Deep financial acumen and comfort with numbers and calculations typically accompany licensing agreement preparation and execution (MGs, royalty rates, allowances, deductions, margins, etc.)
  • Great ability to create new relationships as well as strong relationship management expertise.
  • Strong list of industry / intellectual property partner contacts and knowledge of popular culture.
  • No fear in representing Hasbro’s interests forcefully or in engaging in difficult conversations.
  • Keen eye for strategic planning coupled with vision to drive execution. 
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills in global workspace. 
  • Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills. Must be able to handle dozens of deals and relationships simultaneously.
  • Ability to laugh and have fun even in the most difficult of times.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel and Outlook.
