This enables us to deliver results in all aspects of our business.</span></span></p> <p>The purpose of this function is to drive chemistry innovation with the product brand teams through the creation of new or modified compounds for toy, games and arts & crafts products for worldwide markets.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>A day in the life: </strong></p> <p>               </p> <ul> <li>Liaison between brand management, design & engineering, other internal disciplines to ensure strategic, priority, execution and cost alignment</li> <li>Work closely with internal development teams to plan and assign appropriate technical resources for projects (internal /external)</li> <li>Work with raw material suppliers to develop an understanding of the materials and their applications for products and use/abuse conditions related to child play patterns.</li> <li>Research, identify, qualify and subcontract work with vendors consultants, inventors for applicable product compound formulations</li> <li>Maintain current trend awareness in field of compounds, plastics, paperboard, wood and arts & craft materials and how they relate to the application of toy products and environmental life cycle assessment.</li> <li>Conduct laboratory experimentation to develop new products.  Consult with global scouring and vendors (US, EU, LAM and China) for manufacturing launch. </li> <li>Provide technical advice to the plants during new process start-ups and full-scale implementation.</li> <li>Manage technical documentation of compound development, toxicological, and regulatory compliance for toys, games, and licensed products.</li> <li>Review new regulations (toy, chemical, arts & crafts) and assess their impact on the Hasbro product portfolio. </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>What you’ll bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree: Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering  (Master preferred)</li> <li>Experience required: 10+ years experience in industry, with particular focus on product development support, regulatory knowledge, life cycle assessment and product safety (toy safety preferred); strong understanding of the toy and/or adjacent consumer industry.</li> <li>5+ years in management role</li> <li>Knowledge & Skills required:</li> <li>Good writing, communication, presentation and negotiation skills.</li> <li>Domestic and International travel ability.</li> <li>Subcontracting a variety of services a plus.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Competencies required:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Chemistry / Engineering development background.</li> <li>Technical writing</li> <li>Understanding of worldwide, local, state and federal product safety standards.</li> <li>Understanding of ASTM, ISO, and CEN processes. <p> </p> </li> </ul>
