Would you like to be a part of creating the next great family or party game? Hasbro Gaming is seeking a detail-oriented Product Designer (Board Games) to join the team.


The Product Designer (Board Games) will help the Family Games team develop new face-to-face gaming experiences, leading in various stages of a game’s development, from initial concept to manufacturing. Some responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams in brainstorms; creating and refining game design documents; visualizing game concepts and components; building and assembling product pitches and gameplay demos; developing, testing, and balancing game mechanics, rules and content; as well as briefing and managing external vendors. The Product Designer will work closely with the Product Design Manager, design team, and cross-functional leads to ensure concepts, documentation, and presentations are consistent with existing practices. The Product Designer serves as an integral part of the game design and testing process and is expected to have knowledge of game mechanics, play testing, and game balancing. You must be a collaborative team player with great verbal and written communication skills, as you will be expected to provide feedback and input toward the development of rules, graphics, packaging, and wholistic player experience.


A day in the life of a Product Designer (Board Games)…

  • Develop game concepts for new and established brands.
  • Lead playtests and balance game mechanics to ensure they are fun, engaging, and consistent with the brand essence, within the scope of the vision outlined at the beginning of the project.
  • Manage the creation and refinement of design documents and progress of active projects as assigned.
  • Identify, brief, and manage external development resources on active projects as necessary.
  • Lead design and creation of product pitch decks and various assets required for product sell-in (such as 2D and 3D assets, video editing, etc.)
  • Develop and refine game mechanics and content for a variety of new and established game brands, individually and as part of a larger studio team.
  • Work closely with Design Manager, Games Writers, Marketing Partners, Graphic Designers, and others to ensure each project reaches its full potential while staying on target with deadlines.
  • Maintain great communication and overall excellent relationship with cross-functional team members.
  • Support game prototype creation with Hasbro model shop and external vendor partners.
  • All other assignments as directed by management.


What you’ll bring…

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in game design.
  • Knowledge of design thinking and creative process.
  • Proficient in word processing programs (e.g., MS Word), spreadsheet programs (MS Excel), and Adobe InDesign.
  • Strong Graphic Design skills. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator. Proficient with Powerpoint or Keynote.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and dedicated to making great games.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other teams and individuals.
  • Knowledge of video editing, 3D modeling, and/or animation is a plus.


Ideal education and experience…

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree or 1-3 years of equivalent work experience in product design, industrial design, game design, or related field
  • Experience in game design/development, UX/UI, or related field
  • Knowledge and experience playing Hasbro Gaming brands such as Clue, Game of Life, Monopoly
