Description

Hasbro is seeking a Sr. Designer for its’ Boys Star Wars product design team. The position is based at Hasbro’s headquarters in Pawtucket, RI.

This brand requires a consistent focus on delivering design innovation supporting multiple product categories. Expectations for this role include a focus on crafting and driving visionary product innovation, followed by managing the concepts throughout the development process. This includes managing licensor relationships, managing internal partnerships, and driving hands-on product development. Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills required.

Senior Designers are tasked with developing innovative toy products (play experiences) based on consumer insights and competitive analysis in support of the Star Wars business. The scope of this work includes all aspects of design – Conceptualization, 2D and 3D design, vendor management, costing analysis, strategic analysis, presentation, collaboration, and consumer testing.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Toy Design, Industrial Design, or comparable field of study

• Minimum 4+ year experience within a design role, preferably within the toy and/or entertainment industry

• Understanding of the Star Wars Universe is a plus, but not mandatory.What is required is to respect, develop and promote, with passion, the excitement of the Star Wars universe both internally and externally.Star Wars is a Key Hasbro franchise brand that we are proud to be part of.

Product:

• Demonstrable understanding of toy play patterns and category dynamics based on consumer driven insights.Evaluate trends and consumer insights to identify new play experiences for kids of all ages.

• Creativity and Innovation – Ability to conceive and build product opportunities from scratch, including a strong ability to drive creative brainstorming and exploration.

• Definition of product features through written documents and diagrams and use of cutting edge technologies.

• Management of product design throughout the entire development process.

Presentation:

• Strong visual and product design technical skill with a demonstrable talent to produce compelling product designs, and a strong ability to contextualize and critique efforts.Hands on creation of holistic product design through renderings, control drawings, material selection and color specifications.

• Preparation of 2D and 3D presentation materials for internal and external meetings.

Partnership:

• Situational Awareness – The ability to comprehend, assess, and adapt to various external influences, while driving toward results.

• Adaptability and Flexibility – The ability to manage a constantly shifting set of priorities and often challenging timelines

• Monitoring of sculpture and model making – work with sculptors and model shops to create aesthetic and functional models.

• Close communication with engineers, vendors & R&D teams around the world.

• In general, the development process includes many people.It is a team process.This role requires to be part of a working team.
