The Magic: The Gathering Arena team is looking for a hardworking and dedicated Environment Artist to help us bring the world of Magic to life. In this role, you will be responsible for building play spaces themed after the Magic multiverse with 3D and 2D assets, visual FX, and animations.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Craft thematic and immersive battlefields that will delight our players and create an engaging play space for Magic games.
  • Use the skills of stylized modeling and texturing techniques, solid understanding of scene composition, and careful attention to detail.
  • Ideate and implement unique click interactions around your environments applying bespoke animations and/or VFX.
  • Work closely with the Art Director and other artists in a collaborative pipeline to author and implement assets, give and receive feedback, and plan upcoming content.
  • Introduce and implement your own ideas to improve the visual quality and appeal of our environments.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3+ years professional experience in digital game development in an environment artist or equivalent role.
  • Familiarity working in a game engine environment, including experience with materials, lighting, importing assets, etc. (Unity experience is not required, but is a plus!)
  • Detailed understanding of next-generation asset creation pipelines, software, and tools.
  • Experience with hand-painted or stylized texturing techniques.
  • Outstanding eye for detail, visual hierarchy, composition, and color theory.
  • Creative initiative and vision to take an environment from concept to completion.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to thrive within strict development timelines.
  • Ability to work self-sufficiently and make good artistic choices with minimal guidance or oversight.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate within a closely integrated team structure.
  • Experience authoring and implementing animations and/or VFX is a plus.

 

Compensation Range, Currency USD:

  • Starting Pay Range: $77,200
  • Pay Range End: $145,200
