Magic: The Gathering's Production Editors exists at the crossroads of Magic creation. The Associate Manager, Production Editing supports a team of outstanding editors who own a high volume of cross-team information and ensure that all text elements of Magic cards and related materials meet our quality standards for consistency and accuracy.

 

We are looking for someone who is passionate about:

  • Leading a cohesive and high-functioning team of production editors by managing workloads, developing skills, recruiting the best emerging talent in the field, and reinforcing a culture of inclusivity and excellence.
  • Building a foundation of cross-functional collaboration and integration between the production editors and the templating editing & rules team along with multiple other teams, including designers, digital teams, and studio leadership.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Engage and grow – Conduct regular one-on-ones and daily check-ins with the team. Actively listen, monitor, and improve the team's emotional and cultural landscape. Give direct guidance and feedback to help each staff member grow. Create opportunities for one-on-one training, peer training, and seminars to improve team performance.
  • Guide and improve workflow – Observe the dynamic and workflow of the team. Use both creativity and technology to evolve and improve process while ensuring harmony and a balanced workload.
  • Measure and improve work – Partner with peers, studio leaders, and the team to define standards for quality; create and perform measurements for qualitative and quantitative assessments of work and skills.
  • Workload planning – Work with project partners to coordinate the efforts of a small group of editors across 15+ concurrent projects. Collaborate on scheduling and prioritizing team responsibilities. Identify and forecast needs for hiring.
  • Partner with Everyone – Communicate and coordinate with other teams throughout the studio, including game design, product architecture, creative production, package editing, localization, and other partners to ensure accurate execution of product vision and strategy.

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a lead role as part of an editing or creative production team
  • Familiarity with Magic: The Gathering.
  • Steadfast drive for fostering and growing talent.
  • Flexible, adaptable, creative mentality with a thirst for knowledge.
  • Self-motivated curiosity, active listening, and a diverse toolbox of leadership skills.
  • Compassion, emotional intelligence, and a deep understanding of people.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Smartsheet, databases, InDesign or InCopy a plus.

The base salary range for this position is $84,300.00 to $126,500.00. The hiring range will vary based on factors such as experience, skills, and market conditions. Additionally, employees may be eligible for annual and long-term incentives as part of their overall compensation package.
