About the Internship Program:

Over the course of 10 weeks, a select group of college and university students will join us, gaining valuable work experiences and insights into our most exciting products. Interns engage with Wizards’ beloved brands, gaining meaningful work-experience through day-to-day training, hands-on projects, executive exposure, individual development planning and mentorship.   • Our program runs between June 10 - August 16, 2024.

What You'll Do:

This internship is about working with the MTG Arena Features team to develop new features and iterate on existing ones for our digital Magic client. You'll work with an interdisciplinary group of game designers, UI/UX designers, and engineers to discuss, build, and improve on features to keep them wowing our players. Experience with game design, game development, and Magic: the Gathering are all helpful, but not required.

 

  • You'll write up design docs, get feedback from other designers and engineers, and use that feedback to hone your ideas

  • You'll review docs from other designers, giving advice on how to improve or streamline the features they're proposing

  • You'll play around with features in development, giving feedback on how they could be improved or polished before release to players

  • You'll contribute to group discussions about the current state of the game, our goals for the future, and how to best get there

 

What You'll Bring:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited, degree-seeking program majoring in game design, interaction design, computer science, digital media, human-computer interaction or related degree with at least one quarter or semester left after August 2025.

  • Available to work full-time hours for 10 weeks either remotely or in our Renton, WA location.

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.

  • Flexible, adaptable mind with a constant appetite for knowledge

  • Deeply collaborative outlook and the confidence and trust to work with others

  • Desire to build the best-in-class game in this genre and a passion for Magic: The Gathering

 

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience with crafting and maintaining design documentations.

  • Prior experience implementing designs in Unity or equivalent engine (e.g. personal or academic projects).

  • Knowledge of Magic: The Gathering's digital offerings (Arena, Magic: the Gathering Online) or Tabletop Play.
