We’re looking for a Marketing Creative Director to lead campaign creative for Magic: The Gathering. In this role, you’ll shape how Magic shows up in the world—from set launches, product campaigns and video content. You’ll elevate our creative standards, inspire breakthrough ideas, and connect our world-class IP with new and existing fans in meaningful ways.
A day in the life as a Marketing Creative Director
As the Creative Director for Magic Marketing, you’ll be the storytelling and visual leader for one of the most beloved fantasy brands in the world. You’ll partner with franchise, strategy, and product marketing teams to develop bold campaign platforms, bring new sets and characters to life, and guide an internal team of designers, copywriters, and art directors.
This is a hands-on creative leadership role, blending narrative instinct and visual craft with a deep respect for the players and business strategy. The ideal candidate has led creative campaigns for entertainment or genre brands and knows how to move seamlessly from high-level vision to tactical execution.
You’ll work closely with the Head of Marketing Creative for Wizards to ensure the brand continues to innovate while remaining true to its roots.
- Lead the creative vision and execution for Magic: The Gathering marketing, including campaign platforms, launch assets, video, and digital creative.
- Collaborate with product marketing leads to translate strategy into emotionally resonant, insight-driven creative work.
- Lead and mentor a cross-disciplinary internal creative team—helping them grow, execute at a high level, and stay inspired.
- Uphold the creative bar across all work, whether it’s a high-budget launch trailer or a social moment between sets.
- Partner with studio worldbuilding and lore teams to indentify compelling storytelling opportunities in every set.
- Guide and inspire external agency partners, ensuring alignment to Magic’s brand, tone, and visual identity.
- Represent creative in key meetings, working closely with senior leadership across Magic.
- Experience building IP-based campaigns that span video, social, experiential, and community activations.
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years of creative experience in brand or campaign work for games, entertainment, or IP-driven companies.
- 5+ years leading internal creative teams with a track record of strong mentorship and collaborative leadership.
- A deep love of visual storytelling, player-first thinking, and fan-driven franchises.
- Exceptional concepting, campaign development, and narrative instincts.
- Ability to clearly communicate and present ideas to senior stakeholders and collaborators.
- A portfolio that demonstrates range, originality, and a deep understanding of how to move audiences with creative work.
Bonus Points
- Passion for or experience with Magic: The Gathering or other relative strategy/fantasy franchises.
- Familiarity with player segments, especially competitive and collector audiences.
