We are looking for an experienced Principal Data Analyst with a passion for video games and strong analytics skills to help grow Wizards’ video game analytics capabilities and deliver insights for Wizards’ publishing organization. You have a demonstrable record of delivering analytics and insights for PC & Console games publishers and/or studios. You are thrilled building from the ground up and create from scratch. You are passionate about gaming, love solving problems in new ways, and bring a growth mindset to everything you do!

 

This is a hybrid role at our Renton office in WA (3 days / wk from Tue - Thu). 

 

What You’ll Do:

Define & Implement the Video Game Data Analytics Vision & Strategy

  • Develop a long-term vision for video game analytics across internal game development studios and development partners, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Collaborate with publishing and development teams to understand business needs, define key performance indicator; implementing tracking and reporting to business partners.
  • Partner to establish AI driven analytics tools, including reporting content, automated testing, and predictive analytics to optimize game production.

 

Lead Data Analysis for Video Gaming Ecosystem

  • In collaboration with internal data teams, build scalable data solutions and data pipelines to generate raw datasets, then transform them into clean, consumable aggregates.
  • Work with Data Engineers on data requirements and perform data quality checks for newly ingested data sources.
  • Design, draft, and deliver reporting and analysis based on specific business requirements, using data from game telemetry, partner databases, web analytics tools and research surveys.

 

Cultivate Cross-Studio Collaboration & Technology Sharing

  • Define & drive critical metric standardization across internal and external video game development and publishing partners.
  • Establish relationships with our internal partners to provide insights to their products while understanding their needs, ensuring the right questions are being asked.
  • Collaborate with partner teams across the organization to get the right people working together to tackle large problems.
  • Evaluate sophisticated business and technical requirements in partnership with Central Technology teams, and communicate inherent risks and solutions to technical and non-technical business owners.
  • Work within the Brand Analytics team to uphold standards of data quality, report accuracy, visualization effectiveness, and polished reporting.

 

What You'll Bring:

Experience:

  • 8-10 years work experience as a Business Analyst or Data Scientist with master’s degree or equivalent experience or higher in analytics or similar quantitative field
  • 3-5 years working in Game Analytics for a video game publisher or studio (REQUIRED)

 

Data Analytics & Visualization:

  • Deep understanding of analytics needs of a video game publisher and the data telemetry/instrumentation needed to deliver the insights.
  • Consistent record of combining multiple sources of data across various methods to diagnose business challenges, provide comprehensive insights, and analytics to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Strong data proficiency, including experience with large datasets, telemetry logging, and data pipeline development.
  • Proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

 

Deep Analysis & Statistical Understanding: Deep understanding in causal impact and measuring business decisions. Proficiency in statistical analysis (e.g., hypothesis testing, experimentation, regressions). Experience working with Python or R to run statistical or regression analysis is a bonus.

 

Data Storytelling : Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in translating sophisticated analysis into easily consumed insights through written and verbal presentations.

 

Project Management: Proactively find opportunities to deliver business impact, operate independently and lead personal time effectively, ability to prioritize projects and advise business partners of trade-offs when prioritization choices must be made.

The base salary range for this position is $121,700.00 to $182,500.00. The hiring range will vary based on factors such as experience, skills, and market conditions. Additionally, employees may be eligible for annual and long-term incentives as part of their overall compensation package.
