At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. From our genre-defining games like Magic: The Gathering® and Dungeons & Dragons® to our growing multiverse, we continue to innovate and build new ways to foster friendship and connection. That’s where you come in!

This role will partner closely with the Collectibility, Product Strategy, and Finance teams to support Magic: The Gathering’s worst-kept but super fun secret, Secret Lair! Secret Lair is where Magic does the wild and unpredictable. Your job is simple: Analyze the chaos. Predict the unpredictable. Simple, right?

What You'll Do:

  • Analytics – Develop empirical models to investigate how well the latest wild Secret Lair and other collectibility experiments have worked and identify opportunities for future business evolutions
  • Modeling – Drawing on your aforementioned analyses, develop forecasts of future releases. Apply those forecasts to inform print run strategies that balance revenue opportunity with inventory risk.
  • Design  Apply your analytical insights to help product designers keep making exciting Secret Lair Drops.
  • Ecosystem  Partner with other analysts to better understand Secret Lair fandom from longtime fans to the new fans just now getting their first peeks into the Lair.
  • Flex  While your focus is Secret Lair, occasionally dive into other aspects of Magic collectibles and help us learn and grow the entire ecosystem.
  • Reporting – Partner with our finance gurus to translate release projections into internal, monthly revenue forecasts.

What You'll Bring:

  • Degree in finance, economics, computer science, mathematics, or another quantitative discipline. Graduate degree strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of experience conducting predictive and causal analyses
  • Self-directed, ability to drive projects to completion and proactively communicate timelines and document processes
  • Capable of translating smart questions into rigorous research plans, and translating quantitative estimates into actionable findings for non-technical audiences
  • Experience conducting quantitative analyses in Python, R, or another programming language
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with trading card games; Magic: The Gathering in particular is a strong bonus.
