Magic: The Gathering is experiencing exciting growth, using new technologies and data streams to reach fresh audiences and understand our fan base in groundbreaking ways. We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to use these tools and existing data to conduct analyses that deepen our understanding of the Magic community. This role will find opportunities to reduce barriers for new players and delight longtime fans. Partnering with analytics and data engineers, this individual will transform data into actionable insights and visualizations, making impactful recommendations for design and product teams. They will remain inquisitive and objective, constantly seeking new insights that inform the business strategy. This individual will be a cornerstone of the Magic Analytics team, elevating data awareness and crafting crucial insights for Magic’s future. 


What You'll Do: 

  • Analytics & Reporting: Deliver reports and analyses using various data sources. Develop dashboards and visualizations to drive data-informed decisions. 

  • Telemetry Design & Data Advocacy: Advocate for new data sources. Collaborate with Data Engineers to automate pipelines and ensure data quality. 

  • Business Partnership: Build relationships with business partners. Act as a liaison between divisions and the analytics team.  

  • Project Leadership: Independently execute on analytics initiatives to drive impact and change. Identify business opportunities through research. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale problems. 
     

What You'll Bring: 

  • Experience: Master’s degree in analytics (or similar quantitative field) with 3+ years as a business analyst in consumer goods, digital or technology sectors;   
    OR 8+ years proven track record as a business analyst in consumer, digital, or technology sectors. 

  • Data Analytics & Visualization: 3+ years in SQL; 3+ years with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Experience with Python or R is a plus. 

  • Statistical & Causal Inference: Proven track record to measure causation and incremental impacts from business decisions. Proficient in statistical analysis (e.g., hypothesis testing, experimentation, regressions). 

  • Lifecycle Analytics: Familiar with personalization and customer journey. Proven track record to analyze user lifecycle metrics. 

  • Data Storytelling: Excellent communication skills to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders via written and verbal presentations and documentation. 

  • Project Management: Proactively identify opportunities to deliver business impact, operate independently and manage personal time effectively, ability to prioritize projects and inform business partners of trade-offs when prioritization choices must be made.  

 

Compensation Range (USD)

Starting: $90,500

Ending: $135,700
