At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. From our genre-defining games like Magic: The Gathering® and Dungeons & Dragons® to our growing multiverse, we continue to innovate and build new ways to foster friendship and connection. That’s where you come in!

We have an exciting Senior Technical Producer position open within the Magic: The Gathering Arena production team. In this role, you will handle a developer squad responsible for building the internal systems that keep Arena operating without issues. The ideal candidate brings years of experience working with technical teams and meeting feature and service update schedules defined by the organization and the team.

What You'll Do

  • Work within an Agile framework and advocate for its guidelines.
  • Communicate through roadmaps, reports, and documentation, outlining 2-3 year plans for upper management, and keeping your team informed of what’s next.
  • Own Agile ceremonies, confidently remove team obstacles, acquire necessary resources, and push back appropriately when required.
  • Mentor mid- and associate-level production staff, sharing knowledge and teaching methodologies.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external partners, reviewing and commenting on technical whitepapers and contracts.
  • Raise red flags at the right time and involve the right resources to effect immediate, proactive change.
  • Conduct RCAs as needed and coordinate a weekly sync with all live service-associated engineers on Arena.

What You'll Bring

The successful candidate will have a strong mix of technical experience and live service delivery in the gaming space. Arena's updates span multiple platforms and locales, and this team is crucial to keeping everything running efficiently.

  • A career grounded in a technical background, whether as an engineer, through personal projects, or on teams primarily composed of software engineers.
  • Ability to articulate Agile methodologies, what changes you’ve implemented, and why.
  • Skill in analyzing work, balancing competing priorities to protect the team’s focus.
  • Capability to lead your squad’s initiatives from start to finish with minimal input from management.
  • Outstanding communication skills and a servant-leader approach.
  • Passion for continuous improvement, with the ability to identify and implement necessary changes.
  • Experience with enterprise project management tools (Jira, Rally, Basecamp, Trello, Project, Smartsheet, Asana, etc.).
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, translating complex plans into high-level summaries for non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

  • Scrum, PO, or SAFe (SP/SHWA/SSM) certification.
  • Previous experience in engineering, scripting, automation, and/or technical writing.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Architecture (Azure, AWS, GCP), Containerization/Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), Telemetry stacks (Graphana, Datadog), Build systems (Python, Jenkins), and Alerting systems (Opsgenie, Xmatters).
  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, marketing, and external vendors.
  • A passion for Magic: The Gathering and familiarity with its community; knowledge of Arena as a product is a plus.
