2026 Software Engineering Intern
The Magic: The Gathering® Arena Engineering team brings one of the world’s most iconic trading card games to life in a digital-first experience played by millions globally. The Internship Experience
Hasbro’s Summer Internship Program offers a behind-the-scenes look at how a global play and entertainment company operates- paired with the opportunity to make a real impact.
Interns are fully embedded on their teams and trusted to own meaningful business projects aligned to team priorities. Throughout the summer, you’ll contribute to work that matters while also being part of a broader global intern cohort, gaining exposure to professional development sessions, networking opportunities, and leadership engagement designed to support your growth and learning.
What You Will do as a Software Engineering Intern on Arena-
- Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of new features and improvements.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues to ensure a stable and high-performing game experience.
- Participate in code reviews and team discussions to uphold engineering best practices and quality standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, product managers, artists, and QA to deliver scalable engineering solutions.
- Learn and apply modern development tools, workflows, and Agile methodologies in a production environment.
What You Will Bring[CH1] (Required qaulifications/skills/competencies):
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages (such as Java, C++, or Python).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Understanding of core computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, software design principles).
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- A growth mindset and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Nice to Have[CH2] :
- Experience with game development or similar projects.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Previous internship or related work experience.
By the end of the program, interns leave with tangible accomplishments, a clear understanding of how their work creates value, and meaningful exposure to what a full-time, entry-level role at Hasbro could look like, positioning them well for potential future opportunities.
Program Details
- Interview Timeline: February – April
- Summer Internship Program Dates (adjust accordingly for Co-op):
- Start: Early June (target June 8)
- End: Late August (target August 21)
- Commitment: Full-time (40 hours/week)
- Compensation:
- Rates vary based on year in school, degree program, and office location
- Final rates communicated during offer process[CH3]
- Location: This internship will be located in Hasbro’s Renton, WA office and will be hybrid based where the expectation is that you’ll be onsite Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays.
