Would you like to use your finance experience in a highly visible role to make a difference? We are looking for a Sr. Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to join our Corporate Finance team! In this role, you will be responsible for leading the SEC reporting and technical accounting function, overseeing external reporting, defining and elevating accounting policies, researching guidance on technical accounting matters, and supporting financial reports in compliance with overall SEC reporting requirements and operational procedures. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Sr. Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, leads establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Success in this role requires being driven and innovative, with a strong work ethic and a leadership style characterized by a straightforward style, approachability, a team orientation, and collaboration!

 

This hybrid role can be based in the US and requires the ability to work Eastern Time hours and approximately 25% travel to our office in Rhode Island.

 

A day in the life of the Sr. Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting

  • Lead with the SEC reporting process, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements.
  • Lead the research and analysis of technical accounting matters and recommendation of actions relating thereto, and documentation of accounting issues and conclusions in white papers.
  • Understand new accounting standards, assess the implications, if any, to the company, and implement adoption as appropriate.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and communication of accounting policies, ensuring compliance with US GAAP for use on a worldwide basis.
  • Provide overall support and analysis to executive management by investigating accounting questions, issues, and judgments and by partnering with team members from other business divisions to assist with accounting questions.
  • Develop annual training calendars, identify presenters, and collaborate with presenters on content development.
  • Act as a key liaison to the external auditors to assist in their completion of an efficient audit.
  • Build relationships and regular communication with operational leaders to provide direct and timely assistance on matters that have accounting implications.
  • Complete ad hoc projects assigned by senior management, including analysis of business operations, proposed accounting treatment of significant or unusual transactions, or other accounting and finance-related matters.

 

What you’ll Bring:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in accounting and finance roles of increasing responsibility
  • A minimum of 5 years of public accounting (Big 4 experience preferred),
  • Must possess a deep technical knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is considered a plus.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Certified Public Accountant designation
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and meet deadlines.
  • Reviews performance and progress on a regular basis to ensure the team is achieving results.
  • Demonstrated success in the development of staff and others toward improved skills, independence, and self-initiative.
  • Ability to earn trust and credibility within the organization, and capable of developing effective business relationships with all members of the company’s senior leadership team.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to make sound business decisions.
