As a Sr. Software Development Engineer - Quality, working on D&D, you will support multiple teams of front and backend engineers working on the D&D Beyond product. You will help with test automation setup, load testing and establishing the best practices around other quality-related activities. You will partner with our Platform Engineering team to build foundations of our developer platform.

Our team is responsible for accelerating the achievement of shippable quality (per Modern Testing principles)!

This is a temporary role covering a parental leave.

While the role is based in Poland, we work closely with our teams in US - timezone difference requires some flexibility outside typical 9am-5pm hours.

What You'll Do:

  • Implement the overall quality strategy within supported services and teams
  • Develop and introduce quality-related procedures and tools
  • Assist engineering teams through exploratory test sessions and identifying potential risks
  • Identify and plan the necessary test coverage for supported services and implement test automation suites using the existing toolset, together with CI/CD pipelines running these tests
  • Build and maintain our auxiliary tooling for user and test data management and test infrastructure
  • Plan and assist the execution of non-functional tests (performance, security, accessibility)
  • Capture quality-related metrics and build vital dashboards that advise about the state of quality of our services and processes
  • Deliver trainings for other software engineers on test automation, load testing and other testing activities

What You'll Bring:

  • 5+ years of proven experience as a quality engineer, test automation engineer or similar role
  • Experience in testing the entire stack of modern web applications
  • Demonstrable understanding of agile and quality assurance principles and methodologies
  • Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Proficiency in Playwright or other web test automation frameworks
  • Proficiency in automating CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or other tools
  • Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure in AWS and containerized workloads
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Experience planning and performing load testing using k6 or similar tools

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with C# and .NET framework, as some of our services are built using these technologies
  • Experience with some form of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, Pulumi)
  • Experience using Kubernetes
  • Experience with building Node.js and serverless applications using AWS Lambda
  • Experience with mobile test automation frameworks, e.g. Appium
  • Familiarity with observability tools like Datadog for monitoring, logging, and tracing
  • A passion for Dungeons & Dragons (D&D)
