Would you like to use your finance experience in a highly visible role to make a difference? We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our Corporate Finance team! In this role, you will be responsible for leading the accounting, reporting and controls function, defining and elevating accounting policies, maintaining accounting records, building and overseeing financial infrastructure, researching guidance on technical accounting matters, and preparing financial reports in compliance with overall SEC reporting requirements and operational procedures. The Assistant Controller role leads in establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices and procedures. This is a hybrid role working 2 to 3 days per week in our Pawtucket, RI office.

 

A day in the life of the Assistant Controller:

  • Supervise the monthly and quarterly consolidation and internal financial reporting processes, as well as timely and accurate analysis of financial results and financial trends.
  • Act as the main liaison to the external auditors to assist in their completion of an efficient audit.
  • Understand new accounting standards, assess the implications, if any, to the company, and implement adoption as appropriate.
  • Oversee the research and analysis of technical accounting matters and recommendation of actions relating thereto, and documentation of accounting issues and conclusions in white papers.
  • Responsible for the review of all SEC filings, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate and conclude on appropriateness of non-GAAP measures selected and presented.
  • Responsible for review of quarterly earnings releases, investor decks and management communications for consistency with reported results.
  • Build relationships and regular communication with operational leaders to provide direct and timely assistance on matters that have accounting implications.
  • Provide timely communication of circumstances that impact operational results.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and communication of accounting policies, ensuring compliance with US GAAP for use on a worldwide basis.
  • Implement best financial and accounting practices for all locations, and benchmark external and internal operations.
  • This position is called upon to make accounting policy decisions that directly impact the company’s financial results and its financial reporting integrity.
  • Provide overall support and analysis to executive management by investigating accounting questions, issues and judgments, and functioning as a change agent across the company by partnering with team members from other business divisions to assist with accounting questions.
  • Develop staff to ensure smooth transfer of knowledge for key positions, and support, hire and train to provide for appropriate succession planning and staff development.
  • In coordination with the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting, develop annual training calendars, identify presenters and collaborate with presenters on content development.
  • Complete ad hoc projects assigned by senior management, including analysis of business operations, proposed accounting treatment of significant or unusual transactions, or other accounting and finance-related matters.

 

What you’ll Bring:

  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in accounting and finance roles of increasing responsibility
  • A minimum of 5 years of public accounting, plus public company experience
  • Must possess a deep technical knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is considered a plus.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Certified Public Accountant designation
